What drew me to want to paint this scene was the pink glow of the morning light (from high overcast clouds), and the soft gray and grayish-magenta shades in the now-bare trees, and how that contrasted with the still green grass along the embankment. The main abstract shapes of the near trees, the distant trees, the embankment, and the reflections of those shapes in the canal water, combine to make this composition engaging. The painting is signed on the back, and my insignia is in red at the lower right corner. It is painted on gallery-wrapped canvas three-inches deep and framed professionally. Contact me if you'd like to see some close-up images and more details about the frame (which, due to the 3-inch depth of this canvas, is a traditional box type canvas frame in hardwood painted black).
