A late January snowstorm led me to wander through this nature preserve with my camera. This painting was done in my studio from one of the dozens of images I shot that day. The sky was truly a cobalt blue and the shadows on the snow nearly as blue as the sky. I was attracted to the diagonals caused by the long shadows, intersecting the footprints (and ski track) as well as the bare majesty of the central trees shown of all their foliage.
